Grow with referrals: give a month, get a month

Every member gets a personal invite link. Friends who join get 30 days free, and the referrer is automatically credited a month of their own subscription through Stripe — you just watch the stats.

How the referral loop works

With the campaign on, every member gets a personal invite link, an "Invite a friend" button in the site header, and a sharing block on their profile page. A friend who signs up through the link gets a free trial — 30 days by default, and you can change the length. Once the friend converts, the referrer is credited on their own subscription: normally one month's value (a twelfth of their annual price, or the full monthly price for monthly subscribers), or a fixed amount you set instead.

The whole loop — trial, tracking, and credit — runs automatically through Stripe. You never manually apply rewards, and members see their reward confirmed by an email you can customize.

You control what members see

Visibility toggles on the Referrals page decide what appears under each member's sharing block: their referral count, pending rewards, a list of friends they've invited, and an optional leaderboard. Start minimal and add the leaderboard once you have enough activity for it to look alive.

When the campaign is off, the sharing block disappears and invite links stop working — so you can pause the program cleanly at any time.

Track the results

The Referrals page in the admin shows the last 30 days at a glance: signups via referral, how many converted to paying, rewards granted, and the total credit you've given out, plus a table of recent referrals. You can also enable a weekly or monthly summary report by email so the numbers come to you.

Step by step

  1. Open Referrals in the admin and turn the campaign on at the top.
  2. Set the trial length for invited friends (30 days by default) and the referrer's reward.
  3. Choose what members can see: referral count, pending rewards, friends list, leaderboard.
  4. Optionally customize the reward email and enable weekly or monthly reports.
  5. Watch the stat cards and the Recent referrals table as invites go out.

Good to know

  • Mention the invite link in a broadcast — most members never notice referral programs on their own.
  • Credits reduce revenue per referrer but a referred member costs you nothing to acquire; the math almost always works.
