Give your members a Community section

Turn on the Community section to give members an activity feed, a member directory, messages from you, and 'Start here' pages — a social layer around your classes without the noise of a full social network.

What the Community section includes

When you enable Community, members get a dedicated Community page in the menu with four parts: an activity feed showing recent comments from across all your classes, a member directory where they can see who else is part of your community, a Messages area with your announcements and their conversations with you, and a sidebar of pages you create — like a welcome tour or an FAQ.

The feed pulls in comments members leave on your classes, so conversation that would otherwise be buried on individual video pages becomes visible in one lively stream. Members can react to posts with five positive reactions: like, love, clap, celebrate, and insight.

Positive by design

The Community section is deliberately calm. Reactions are positive-only — there is no downvote. Members cannot send private messages to each other; the only direct messaging is between you and each member. That keeps the space safe and keeps you in control of the tone.

The member directory shows first names and profile photos only — no email addresses or last names. Members who prefer privacy can hide themselves from the directory with a visibility setting on their own profile page.

Keep it healthy

Comments that you hide through moderation disappear from the feed automatically, and members can report anything inappropriate. See the article on comments and moderation for the full workflow.

If your community is new and quiet, consider also enabling Global live chat so conversation from every class appears under each video — it makes even a small community feel active.

Step by step

  1. Go to Settings → Pages and sections and turn on "Community".
  2. Send a welcome message from Members → Broadcasts so the Messages area isn't empty.
  3. Create a "Start here" page or two under Members → Community.
  4. Check Members → Moderation now and then to review any reported comments.

Good to know

  • Seed the feed yourself: leave a comment on a few classes so early members see activity.
  • Turn Community off if you want a pure video library — the page disappears from the menu entirely.
