Watch on the TV: sign in with a phone code

Members log in on a TV by approving a short code from their phone — no typing email links with a remote. It's built in for every platform and works on your custom domain.

Why it exists

Email sign-in links are great on a phone and terrible on a TV — the link arrives on one device while the TV waits on another, and typing with a remote is painful. The TV code flow solves this: the TV shows a short code, and the member approves it from their phone in seconds.

How it works

On the TV's web browser, the member opens your site's /tv page. The screen shows a short code together with the exact web address to open on their phone.

On the phone, they open that address, sign in if they aren't already (easy on a phone — email link or social login), type the code from the TV, and approve. The TV signs in instantly and they can start watching on the big screen.

Nothing to configure

TV sign-in is built in — there's no toggle or setup. It works on your custom domain and matches your branding and colors. The only thing to do is tell your members it exists, especially if your content is the kind people follow along with in the living room: yoga, workouts, or courses.

Step by step

  1. On the TV, open the web browser and go to your site followed by /tv.
  2. A short code appears, along with the address to open on a phone.
  3. On the phone, open that address and sign in if needed.
  4. Enter the code from the TV screen and approve.
  5. The TV signs in immediately — start watching.

Good to know

  • Add a line about TV sign-in to your welcome email or Start here page — most members don't know to look for it.
  • Codes are short-lived for security; if one expires, refreshing the TV page shows a fresh code.
