Give free access, grant memberships, and set trials

Comp anyone without touching billing: grant a full membership with one click, toggle free access with an optional expiry date, or give a member a trial of 1 to 365 days.

Grant membership (no charge)

On a member's profile, the Grant membership button gives that person an active membership with free access immediately. No payment is charged, no card is required, and no email is sent — the member simply has full access the next time they visit.

Use it for team members, VIPs, prize winners, or anyone you want inside without a checkout.

Free access with an optional expiry

The Access card on the profile has a Free access toggle. Free access overrides subscription status — the member gets in regardless of whether they have ever paid. It never touches your payment account, so it's completely safe to flip on and off.

When enabling it you can set an expiry date, so the comp lapses automatically — perfect for "free month" gestures. Turning free access off also clears any expiry. (If you don't see the expiry option, ask support to enable timed free access for your platform.)

Set trial days for one member

Set trial days gives a specific member trial access for 1 to 365 days — they show as Trialing and keep access until the trial ends. This is separate from the free-trial length you configure on your membership plans, which applies to everyone who signs up through checkout.

Step by step

  1. Open Members in the admin menu and click the member.
  2. For a permanent comp: click Grant membership and confirm.
  3. For a temporary comp: in the Access card, turn on Free access and optionally pick an expiry date.
  4. For a trial: use Set trial days, enter the number of days, and confirm.

Good to know

  • Tag comped members (for example "comped") so you can filter and review them later.
  • The AI assistant can do this for you: "give anna@example.com free access until the end of August."
  • Free access does not create a subscription — if the member later buys a plan, the paid subscription takes over seamlessly.
