Reply to direct messages and video comments

Answer members straight from the inbox with a composer that supports emoji, image attachments and a one-tap thumbs-up. Direct replies reach the member's in-app messages; comment replies post publicly under the video.

The reply composer

Every conversation in Members โ†’ Messages has a reply box at the bottom. Type your answer (up to 4,000 characters), or spice it up: the smiley button opens an emoji picker with a couple dozen common reactions, and the image button lets you attach a picture (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF or AVIF) that's embedded in your reply. There's also a dedicated thumbs-up button that sends a ๐Ÿ‘ in one tap โ€” perfect for acknowledging a message that doesn't need a written answer.

Press Send, or use Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows) to send from the keyboard. If an image is still uploading, the composer waits until it's ready.

Where your reply goes

Replies to a direct message appear in that member's Messages page inside the Community area, threaded under their original message โ€” they don't need to check email to see it.

Replies to a comment thread are posted publicly under the video, marked with your admin badge so members can see the answer came from you. Replying is also what clears the thread from your unanswered-comments list. If a comment is inappropriate rather than in need of an answer, you can delete it from the thread instead.

Step by step

  1. Open Members โ†’ Messages and select a conversation.
  2. Write your reply in the composer โ€” add emoji or attach an image if you like.
  3. Click Send (or press Cmd/Ctrl+Enter).
  4. For a quick acknowledgement, tap the thumbs-up button instead.

Good to know

  • A short reply beats a late reply โ€” even a thumbs-up tells the member they've been heard.
  • Comment replies are public: write them as answers other members will benefit from reading too.
